I've found BIOS and AMD Radeon drivers for my Inspiron 560 and HD 5770 GPU respectively on the Dell website for Product Support. As far as I know, this GPU does not support Vulkan at all, so we're SOL.

I have the HD 6770 (rebadged 5770) and I've already tried, the only thing that works is the open source Radeon drivers, which only supports up to OpenGL 3.1 (Windows supports up to 4.3 I think). The only thing I've done thus far to try and troubleshoot is to uninstall my old Nvidia display drivers from my control panel, and attempted to install the recommended AMD Radeon drivers, one of which being Catalyst and I think the other being Crimson. Luckily, the folks over at the Phoronix Forums have figured out a workaround.Īpparently in the time since I did this, the complete 9.11 version of Catalyst has been leaked, so that may be an even easier, better solution, but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure whether it works.I recently got a Radeon HD 5770 GPU and was excited to upgrade over my stock in my Inspiron 560 desktop. Some time the display is going black when windows start.

There's one caveat, which is that the beta drivers drop an ugly "AMD Testing Use Only" watermark on the bottom-right corner of your display. Radeon hd 5770 1 GB black screen after 5 seconds in game. Though I can't make promises that this won't screw up your X config and leave you trying to revert it in the terminal. The install procedure once you have that is relatively painless - just follow the on-screen instructions for installing and reboot when you're done.

But there is a newer (beta) version of the drivers available for free to developers in the form of the ATI Stream SDK. So I don't know if anyone else is as crazy as I am, trying to run Linux Mint 7 Gloria on a brand-new ATI Radeon HD 5770 card, but in case they are, I thought I should explain how to get it working since it was so much trouble.īasically, the story is this: the current (as of this post) ATI fglrx closed-source drivers - Catalyst 9.10 - do not support the 5770.
